Where Lisbon Meets La Dolce Vita: SCUSA Lisbon.
Scusa, designed by the Lisbon-based studio SPACEGRAM for the Nómada Group, reimagines the language of Italian hospitality with warmth, tactility, and intention. For Scusa, the design needed to nod to Italy’s rich cultural palette, from the Alpine north to the sun-baked south, while steering clear of stereotypical cues. Rather than inventing a ‘fusion’ or distancing from the Italian identity, SPACEGRAM chose to interpret it afresh: light-filled, convivial, and modern, with the food firmly at the centre. The interiors were imagined as an extension of the cuisine itself: warm, inviting, and quietly generous. The result is a space that feels both grounded and elevated – full of sun-drenched surfaces, terracotta tones, and sculptural detail.
To bring texture and contrast to this palette, SPACEGRAM selected two of Smile’s surfaces: Black Dapple and Heron in Butterscotch. Used across a series of custom accent tables, the materials offer a layered, expressive quality that complements Scusa’s softened forms and sunlit interiors. Beyond their visual qualities, the panels were chosen for their durability and circular credentials; an ideal match for a hospitality environment designed to feel effortless, but built to last.
